Alice E. Philbin, 95, of Middleton, CT, died May 19, 2012, after a period of failing health.

Born in Manchester, NH on October 8, 1916, she was the daughter of Eugene and Catherine (Sullivan) Merrifield. She resided in Middletown, CT for many years.

She graduated from Manchester High School Central, Class of 1934.

She was a homemaker for many years. Later, she worked as an accountant with Woolworth Department Store for ten years.

A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed the pleasures of family life.

She was married to John G. Philbin who died December 30, 1993. She was also predeceased by her son, Kevin R. Philbin.

Family members include two sons, John D. Philbin of Westbrook, CT and William Philbin of San Rafael, CA; a daughter, Kathryn Landry of Cromwell, CT; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Services: Calling hours are Wednesday from 3 to 7 PM at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord Street, Manchester.

The funeral will be held Thursday with a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 AM in the chapel of Saint Joseph Cathedral, Lowell Street, Manchester.

Burial will take place in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH.
